How Often Should You Get Aquapeel? How It Works and the Right Interval

How Aquapeel clears dead skin cells and sebum from the pores, the recommended treatment interval for each skin type, and what to keep in mind after treatment.

Even with good skincare products, if your skin feels dry and rough and makeup tends to lift, it is worth checking for buildup inside the skin first. Skin that produces a lot of sebum or has a thickened layer of dead skin cells is prone to clogged pores, and the debris inside pores soon leads to breakouts. This article covers how Aquapeel works and how often to have it. In short, Aquapeel is usually done at intervals of 2 to 4 weeks, with about a month as a starting point, and the interval is adjusted according to skin type and how the skin reacts after treatment.

01

How does Aquapeel clear the pores?

Key point
Aquapeel is a water peel that sprays a solution through a special tip while suctioning at the same time. It works in 3 steps: AHA smooths away dead skin cells, BHA clears sebum and blackheads from the pores, and a hydrogel moisturizing ingredient then replenishes hydration and nutrients.

Aquapeel is a peeling treatment that uses water to remove dead skin cells and clean out sebum, combining chemical and mechanical peeling at once. While the solution softens built-up dead skin and evens the surface, vacuum suction from the same tip draws out sebum, debris and even Demodex mites from the pores, so the care reaches deep into the pores.

Because Aquapeel relies on water and suction rather than blades or strong heat, it places relatively little strain on the skin, which is why many people choose it as their first treatment. However, it does not change the size of the pores themselves, so it is better approached as regular care than as a treatment expected to bring a big change at once.

  • Step 1, AHA — the solution softens built-up dead skin cells and smooths a rough skin surface
  • Step 2, BHA — intensively cleans out sebum, blackheads and debris inside the pores
  • Step 3, hydrogel — moisturizing ingredients replenish hydration and nutrients after peeling

What results can be expected from Aquapeel?

Key point
Aquapeel addresses exfoliation, removal of sebum inside the pores, removal of blackheads and whiteheads, and hydration in a single process. As the sebum filling the pores is cleared, pores that looked enlarged appear more refined, but the treatment does not reduce the actual size of the pores.

For skin full of blackheads and with an uneven texture, Aquapeel helps because the sebum and debris filling the pores are drawn out by suction, so pores that stood out look more refined. A smoother surface also helps skincare and makeup applied afterward sit evenly rather than sliding around, which can ease the problem of makeup lifting.

If makeup does not sit well or pores have become noticeably enlarged, it may be worth considering whether care that cleanses deeper into the skin is needed before switching products. Aquapeel combines exfoliation, sebum cleansing and hydration in one flow, making it suited to skin with active sebum production or a thick layer of dead skin cells.

  • Exfoliation — clears built-up dead skin cells so a dull, rough surface becomes smoother
  • Removal of sebum in the pores — vacuum suction draws out the sebum and debris clogging the pores
  • Removal of blackheads and whiteheads — with less debris lodged in the pores, the pores look more refined

How often should Aquapeel be done?

Key point
Aquapeel is usually recommended at intervals of 2 to 4 weeks, with about a month as a guide. For oily skin the guide is every 2 to 3 weeks, and for sensitive skin no more than 1 session per month. It is important to adjust the interval while watching how the skin reacts after each treatment.

Because Aquapeel cleanses with little irritation, it is generally recommended at intervals of 2 to 4 weeks, and starting with about a month as a guide is a comfortable approach. However, sebum production and skin condition differ from person to person, so the right interval and intensity differ too, and the interval suited to your skin should be set through consultation.

People with thin or sensitive skin may see temporary redness after Aquapeel, so it is safer to adjust the next interval after checking the reaction. Washing your face and wearing makeup are possible even on the day of treatment, but it is advisable to avoid activities that raise skin temperature, such as strenuous exercise or drinking alcohol, and to use sunscreen.

How the doctor decides

Hyeran Heo, Medical Director

I do not start by recommending frequent treatments just because pores look large

I do not conclude that someone needs frequent Aquapeel treatments simply because their pores look large. Aquapeel is care that clears the sebum and debris filling the pores; it is not a treatment that changes pore size itself. So I first check whether the pores stand out because they are clogged with sebum, and then we plan regular care together to match that condition.

I check sebum production and skin thickness first

Before setting the interval between treatments, I first check how active sebum production is and whether the skin is thin or sensitive. Even with the same Aquapeel, oily skin and sensitive skin react differently afterward, so the right interval differs. That is why I start with every 2 to 3 weeks as a guide for oily skin and no more than 1 session per month for sensitive skin.

I reset the next interval based on the reaction after treatment

I do not lock in the interval I first set; I first look at how much redness remains after treatment. I believe care that respects the skin's recovery cycle matters more than forcing the intervals closer together. So if redness remains, I postpone the next treatment, and if the skin feels comfortable, I keep to the guide of about a month.

Summary

In summary

Aquapeel is a peel that sprays AHA, BHA and a moisturizing ingredient in stages while suctioning debris from the pores, clearing dead skin cells and sebum. The recommended interval is usually 2 to 4 weeks, with every 2 to 3 weeks as a guide for oily skin and no more than 1 session per month for sensitive skin, adjusted to how the skin reacts. If makeup does not sit well or your pores have become noticeably enlarged, consider talking with the medical team to set an interval that suits your skin.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

QCan I wash my face and wear makeup right after Aquapeel?
A

Washing your face and wearing makeup are possible even on the day of treatment. However, it is advisable to avoid activities that raise skin temperature, such as strenuous exercise, drinking alcohol or saunas.

QIs redness after Aquapeel normal?
A

If the skin is thin or sensitive, temporary redness can appear. During that time, apply sunscreen, and adjust the interval before the next treatment according to the reaction.

QWill a single Aquapeel treatment shrink my pores?
A

Aquapeel draws out sebum so that pores look less enlarged, but it does not change the size of the pores themselves. That is why regular care is recommended over a single treatment.
